New Debit Cards will have EMV Chip to Provide Extra Security

In the coming weeks, TLFCU will begin to replace expiring debit cards with EMV chip enabled cards. These cards have both a traditional magnetic strip and a new embedded microchip to make purchases at chip enabled merchants. This extra layer of protection encrypts your payment information when making purchases at chip enabled terminals to assist in preventing fraud.

When using your EMV card at chip enabled terminals:

1. Insert your card face up and leave it in the terminal

2. Verify your transaction

3. Remove your card when prompted

You can still swipe your card at terminals that have not yet converted to chip ready devices, although it is recommended that you use the chip for payment when possible.
